ARTISTS STATEMENT

The allure of photography has been with me long before I recognized it. It has taken me from casual observer to artistic practitioner. While I am drawn to many subject categories or styles there remains one common thread. The moment the camera begins its journey from hand to eye; my mind is locked on refining the observation that was the reason for that motion.

For me, photography has always been so much more than taking a picture. My "vision" sees things from a very personal prospective. My challenge is to present the final image in such a way as to allow the viewer to discover it for themselves. If it causes the observer to pause, or provokes a thought, conscious or otherwise, I consider it successful.

The discipline I learned in the dark room is the foundation of my approach to the digital world. I remain thoroughly involved in the process from capture through post processing and printing my own images.
